Resources

Collect lots of magazine articles about baby health issues and alphabetise them in a file (I did this while I was pregnant). I've created a great resource and I have total peace of mind when my baby gets sick.

Watching your weight and need some impetus? Try bag it!

After dinner each night, when you’re feeling satisfied and your will power is up, gather together all the food you’re going to eat the next day. Place this in something suitable (like a plastic cake container). Each day you can access this container for your breakfast, lunch and dinner. Nothing is to touch your lips that doesn’t come from this container. Decant from here into something smaller (like a lunchbox) for going to work. If you’ve got an extra special husband then ask him to cook for you before you get home (and, you guessed it, only from the container). When you’re back on the healthy diet wagon you can be less stringent with yourself.Good luck!

Mosquito repellent

A natural, safe remedy to keep mosquitos away from your baby is to add a few drops of vanilla essence to a small bowl of water in her room. Mosquitos hate the smell of vanilla and you have a sweet smelling natural air freshener.

Bad-tasting antibiotics

Ask your doctor to prescribe the higher dose/ml antibiotics, then there is less ml to give your little one and almost always enough extra in the bottle in case your kid spit it out! Eg, instead of giving 5ml of the 125mg/5ml antibiotic, ask for the 250mg/5ml, then you only need to give 2.5ml!
