Q&A: Pains and cramps in abdominal area

Tina Otte answers:

At twelve weeks, you are usually past the most critical time in your baby’s development and pregnancy. With your history I can understand why you are concerned and you have every right to feel that way. You have done the right thing and checked with your caregiver and if s/he feels that
your pregnancy is safe – so you can relax!

Sometimes worrying can cause cramps as we release hormones that could cause the uterus to contract. You may indeed be feeling your uterus stretching, although I am sure it is more the ligaments around the uterus that you may feel stretching. At the end of the day, get into a lovely warm bath, dim the lights in the bathroom and have a time out.

Pop a few tablets of Rescue Remedy under your tongue whenever you feel anxious. Should there
be any bleeding however contact your caregiver immediately.
